A quarter of all new iPhones are now made in India

According to a new report from Bloomberg News, 25% of all new iPhones are now made in India. An estimated 55 million iPhones were manufactured in India last year, up from 36 million in 2024. India’s rise as a top iPhone manufacturing hub began back in 2017 with the iPhone SE, with the iPhone 6s joining it a year later. Back then, Apple’s primary goal was to evade India’s high import fees on goods manufactured in China, but Cupertino soon fell in the midst of the budding US-China trade war, which forced it to expand its iPhone manufacturing to more regions outside of China.
